01Is the 4C a good beginner mouthpiece?
It works as an all-rounder. Denis Wick's 4B shares the same rim and cup diameter but plays easier, which is the friendlier first step.
02How does this compare to a 3C?
The 3C is 0.25mm wider in the cup with a slightly wider rim and a freer blow. The 4C gives up some of that for a stronger center of pitch.
03Will it fit my cornet?
No. This is cut as a trumpet mouthpiece. Cornets use a shorter, narrower shank that won't seat properly in either direction.
04Does silver plating change the sound?
Feel changes more than sound. Silver is firmer and slicker under the lip. The cup diameter, throat and backbore do the tonal work.
