The Korena take

Built around an 8-ohm load, the Headload Prodigy lets you run an amplifier at reduced speaker volume, record without a speaker cabinet, or send its JDX Reactor direct output in place of a microphone. Select full output, 50%, or 25% attenuation to manage level while driving the amp. The JDX section provides cabinet-shaped filtering, transformer isolation, and ground-lift capability. Bass and treble EQ, separate line outputs, and a headphone level control make it practical for silent recording, in-ear monitoring, and added routing.

Strong match

Who this is for

  • Silent recording sessions that need amplifier distortion without a speaker cabinet in the room.
  • Reducing an amplifier from full output to 50% or 25% while retaining a connected speaker setup.
  • Sending a post-JDX, post-EQ signal to additional amplifiers or effects from the front-panel-controlled output.

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Amplifier setups requiring a speaker-load version other than 8 ohms.
  • Use outside dry locations or in temperatures below 5C or above 40C.
