02What is the difference between the 13A4 and the 13A4a?
Identical .660 inch cup diameter, shallow A cup and number 4 rim. The 13A4a adds a tight a-backbore for a lead feel; this one uses the standard c-backbore and blows freely.
03Is gold worth it over silver?
The cup, rim and backbore are the same as the silver 13A4. You are paying for the plating on the surface, not for different playing dimensions.
04Is this a good first cornet mouthpiece?
Not really. Schilke lists the 13, with its C cup and rounded number 3 rim, for students and developing players. The shallow A cup here assumes a set embouchure.
