01What is the difference between the 13A4a and the 13A4?
Same .660 rim and shallow cup. The 13A4a has the tight a-backbore aimed at lead work; the 13A4 uses a standard c-backbore, which blows freer.
02Will this help me play higher?
It makes the upper register easier to reach and hold, but it does not add range you have not built. The tight backbore rewards a developed embouchure.
03Is this a good student mouthpiece?
Not as a first one. The shallow cup and tight backbore are set up for lead playing. A standard C cup builds tone and low register better early on.
04Does it fit a cornet?
No. This is a trumpet mouthpiece with a trumpet shank. Cornets take a shorter shank of smaller diameter and will not seat it correctly.
