01How is the F series different from the M series?
The F models use a deep V cone cup, a wide 20 throat, and a shorter shank for a dark, mellow sound. The M models use a bowl cup and blow brighter.
02Will this make my trumpet sound like a flugelhorn?
No. It pushes the tone darker and rounder, but the horn's own bore still sets most of the sound. The V cup narrows the gap, it does not close it.
03Can I play lead on it?
Not well. The deep V cup and wide throat trade upper-register ease for warmth. Keep a shallower piece for anything sitting above the staff.
04Does the shorter shank affect tuning?
That is what it is there for — it compensates for the large cup volume. Expect to reset your tuning slide when you switch onto it.
