Large shank is the fatter taper used on medium and large-bore tenors and bass trombones. Small shank fits small-bore tenors. They are not interchangeable.
02Can I use this on bass trombone?
You can, but the 1.00-inch cup is small for it. The 57 doubles between tenor and bass, and the 58, 59 and 60 are built for full-time bass work.
03How does the 50 compare to the 50C4?
Same 1.00-inch diameter, but the 50C4 pairs a medium-deep cup with a medium-wide rim and an F throat. The plain 50 is the standard Schilke cup and rim.
