Same 25.63mm diameter. The 51 has a large bowl cup and J throat for a rich orchestral sound; the 51B has a shallower B cup and tighter F throat for brightness and high range.
02Is the 51B good for orchestral playing?
It is not the obvious pick. The shallow cup trades depth for projection and range. For orchestral tenor, the 51, 51C4 or 52 sit closer to that sound.
03Will this fit a small-bore tenor?
No. This is a large-shank mouthpiece for large-bore tenor and bass trombone receivers.
04Will a shallower cup help my high register?
It usually makes the upper range easier and more secure. The cost is a thinner low register and less warmth in the middle.
