01What is the difference between the 11 and the 11A?
The rim size and contour are similar. The 11A has a shallower A cup, which supports the upper register while trading away some volume of tone.
02Is the 11A a lead mouthpiece?
It has the shallow cup but a standard 26 throat. Models built specifically for lead, like the 13A4a, pair the A cup with a semi-flat number 4 rim and tight a-backbore.
03Will this help my high notes?
A shallower cup reduces volume behind the lip, which generally makes the upper register easier to reach. It will not replace air support or embouchure development.
04Can I use it on cornet?
No. It has a trumpet shank. For cornet, the 11E has a large funnel-shaped cup intended for that instrument.
